Guests arriving for a wedding weekend will delight to a welcome gift full of thoughtful details. To celebrate the nuptials of a bride with a passion for cooking, Leah Taylor prepared a burlap tote containing olive oil from the “Kitchen of Love”, an olive tray, and a pottery bowl. But the centerpiece was a layered cookie topped with a confectionary pansy, whose name derives from the French word pensée, or thought, for remembrance. A fragrant branch of rosemary, which has been associated with weddings since the middle ages for its memory-enhancing properties, might scent the guest’s hotel room. And while the cookie might serve as an after-dinner treat, the tote, olive oil and serving pieces will act as reminders of the happy event far into the future.
